When we were Young Concerts

Philharmonia Orchestra

Kathryn Rowland presenter and workshop leader

The Philharmonia Orchestra is giving three concerts today, the first two under our When we were Young project, and the third is part of the Corn Exchange's Orchestral Series. (Please do follow the link below for this.)

Our major educational work this festival involves all the public
nursery schools in Cambridge. We are bringing all their pupils,
families and teachers to special concerts for the very young today
in the Cambridge Corn Exchange to have their first experience
of what a symphony orchestra sounds like.
There will be two events, each lasting 45’.

Whilst we expect the hall to be quite full with all the schools
and other groups who are taking part, there may be more space.

If you are involved with another toddlers’ group or children’s charity, contact Elaine Midgley at the Corn Exchange if you would like to know more. 01233 457555 Elaine.Midgley@cambridge.gov.uk

Their programme includes music by Beethoven, Shostakovich and Mussorgsky, with piano soloist Boris Giltburg and conductor Vassily Patrenko.

These concerts are not open to private booking. Sorry, but to limit space, help with the organisation, and ensure everyone can see, we are giving priority to groups of children and carers.

When we were Young is being organised in partnership with Cambridge City Council. We have received substantial grants for the project from the National Lottery via Arts Council England, Cambridgeshire Community Foundation, Cambridgeshire County Council, Cambridgeshire Culture, the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, Microsoft Research, Mothercare Group Foundation, Orchestras Live, and from Cambridge City Council.
